Susan Jane Gilman is a New York-born American writer and novelist who now lives in Geneva. She has written three bestselling non-fiction books, Undress Me in the Temple of Heaven (2009); Hypocrite in a Pouffy White Dress (2005); and Kiss My Tiara (2001) , and two novels, The Ice Cream Queen of Orchard Street (2014) and Donna Has Left the Building. Having written for The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Ms., and The Daily Beast, Susan has also appeared on television and radio, including spending five years as an NPR commentator and as a co-host of the monthly book show "Bookmark" on World Radio Switzerland. She gave the keynote at TEDxZurichWomen in 2015.
Susan's mentor Frank McCourt (of Angela's Ashes fame), was her high school English teacher. She received her MFA from the University of Michigan, where she also taught literature. Her short fiction has appeared in numerous literary journals, including Ploughshares and the Greensboro Review, the latter of which awarded her its Literary Award for short fiction in 1998. Though now Swiss-American, she remains, eternally, a child of New York.

Group discussion (45-60 minutes), members' personal views on the book, opposing ideas, etc, Q+A. Note: reading the book is not a "must" to attend the meeting.
